The Whistling Kettle, a renowned and popular cafe cum diner run by the owner's of Darjeeling's renowned Tea corner, Nathmull's has just started a Bacon Festival at their outlet in South Kolkata's Golpark. Whether you're into crispy bacon or chewy bacon, you'll love gorging on the delicacies served wrapped in bacon.
For those who cannot go there, here are two recipes from the festival menu. Cook them and have them right away.
Loaded Bacon Potatoes
Ingerdients:
Potato- two pieces
Bacon- three pieces
Cheddar cheese: grated
Salt and pepper to taste
A sprig of parsley
Method:
Bake two unpeeled potatoes in the oven for 30 minutes. Put the bacon slices in the oven and cook for seven to eight minutes. Once the potatoes are cooked, cut them into two halves. Now, scoop out the potatoes from the centre and cut them into small pieces. Add salt, pepper, crushed bacon, grated cheese and parsley to the potato bits and mix well. Now, refill the potatoes with the mixture. Top it with grated cheese and bake for two minutes, or until the cheese melts. Serve hot. Cheese sauce can be served along with this dish.
Bacon Lettuce and Tomato Burger
Ingredients:
One burger bun
Bacon- three pieces
One cheddar cheese slice
Four sliced tomatoes
One leaf of green Lettuce
Mustard mayonnaise
Method:
Halve the burger bun and put it in the oven for about two minutes. Cook the bacon slices in the oven for seven to eight minutes. Take a slice of toasted bun and apply mustard mayo to it. Not arrange the lettuce leaf, bacon, cheese, tomato, one after the other. Put the other bun on the top. Put a toothpick vertically (so that the burger doesn’t fall apart) and serve.
