Make up, meditation and face time: Spa sessions at Wink Salon

Make up, meditation and face time: Spa sessions at Wink Salon

After a few turns off the bustling TTK Road, a quiet green street leads you to Wink Spa and Salon, lavishly split over three floors. While the wellness and beauty concept has become something of a catch-all, championed by health gurus and doctors, Samantha Jagan was one of its early advocates, with over a decade in the industry. Opened a year-and-a-half ago, the space is housed in a renovated 7,000 sq ft bungalow, lending it an inviting and plush feel. With high ceilings and glass accents, guests can choose from a range of different treatments, including body massages, extensions and a number of facials. Apart from the usual, they also provide clients with an in-house photography studio, a bridal VIP suite, a training room, and even a meditation room. We hear that the makeup classes that they conduct are not to be missed out on!

Tough as nails
It’s always summer in the city and that means those nails must look pretty. Not that I truly understand the cultural necessity for painting our toes like M&M’s and semi-precious stones… I mean, is it some volutionary perk? Do the brightest toenails win out the process of natural selection? Well, in the quaint neighbourhood we were in — they probably do. As a victim of social conditioning, I opted for another seasonally inappropriate nail polish choice, one in deep berry. This was a hard decision to make keeping in mind the sheer number and variety of varnishes Wink spoilt us with.

You know how a manicure usually starts chipping after two days and the polish on your toes stays intact through a nuclear blast and then some? Here’s the good news —my fingers stayed on their A game through the week, courtesy the super strong base and top coats. A manicure so strong that it could fight crime… and my relentless keyboard-bashing. The peppermint mask on my hands and feet was truly to die for and seemed good enough to eat!

Up in the hair
The lighting through the salon is beautifully designed and really brought the organic surfaces to life. A little birdie told us that it was all sourced by Samantha herself, who travelled extensively to bring it all together. The treatments were explained in simple terms with a welcome sense of humour, lots of patience and warm smiles by the well-trained and experienced therapists.

My hair was then decoded courtesy the Kerastase Professional Diagnosis System, which meant I had a camera taking photos of my zoomed in scalp up to 200 times! And my hair was magnified up to 300 times — which pin pointed my exact hair and scalp issues. It calculated everything from density to strength to make sure I get the best treatment. Handy, am I right? If there was ever a more subjective job, writing spa reviews would be it — because everybody’s skin reacts differently. While Diana’s magic cocktail made me reach some major #hairgoals for real, I wish I could say the same about the mini facial I got. The peel-off mask made tiny samosa-size eruptions pop up around my T-zone, not a fan! Wink Spa and Salon was a perfect summertime treat, and left us feeling blissfully relaxed and calm for the rest of the weekend. The facilities are in perfect condition, and there is plenty of room for everyone without it feeling even the slightest bit overcrowded.
