With the summer blazing down, maintaining the quality of your skin and hair is becoming highly cumbersome. While we run to chemical-infused products that are easily available in supermarkets, doctors say that Ayurveda is more helpful in rejuvenating hair and skin. Kama Ayurveda, one of India’s
leading luxury beauty brands has been around for a very long time. Started in 2002, Kama Ayurveda is known for their organic products and thoroughly-researched formulae.

Of late, using household herbs and plants from your garden has been the beauty mantra. With fragrant plants like roses,  neem, aloe vera, calendula (marigold), jasmine, tulsi and tea tree, Kama Ayurveda has just unveiled a new range of products that can be used for a variety of beauty needs — from problem solving to daily maintenance. Aimed to balance each individual’s dosha —the central concept of Ayurvedic medicine, this new product line is a result of the brand’s years of research and product development. Sharad Kulkarni, their Ayurvedic Surgeon, detoxification specialist and health coach, says that the foremost concerns among people today are disorders arising from improper diet and lifestyle. “A balanced state of all doshas leads to good health and a harmonious mind and an imbalanced state lead to diseases and discomfort,” says Sharad.

To counter these problems, Ayurveda gets to the root cause by breaking the pathology involved. Kama’s products are 100 per cent natural, which means — no artificial colours, artificial fragrances, petrochemicals, parabens, urea, propylene glycol and other harmful additives.  Sharad has been associated with Kama Ayurveda for over two years now as their consultant and doctor, and has formulated their products according to traditional Ayurvedic prescriptions. “They are highly efficacious and authentic,” says Sharad, adding that some of their best products include the Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty fluid, Rejuvenating and brightening night cream, Kumkumadi  Scrub, Pure Rose Water and Nimrah, Anti-Acne Cleansing Foam which has ashwagandha, red sandalwood, coriander, lodhra and liquorice. “Products such as their Eladi Hydrating Day Cream and all-natural make up remover go well with all skin types. However, we do have some specifically formulated products for acne-prone skin and sensitive skin.” Additionally, he also advices to drink milk and sugar at night and applying sandalwood paste for the face as a coolant.

Prices range from Rs 500 to Rs 2,295.
