Which businesses does UK PM Rishi Sunak’s wife Akshata Murty run?

Akshata Murty came under the spotlight after her husband, Rishi Sunak was named Britain’s new Prime Minister.

Akshata has a net worth of $1.3 billion, making her and Rishi the richest occupants of Number 10 Downing Street.

How did the couple amass this level of wealth? What are the businesses that Akshata runs?

She is the only director and shareholder of the capital and private equity firm, Catamaran Ventures UK.

Catamaran Ventures provides local brands with funding capital and management expertise and helps network partners grow strategically.

What’s more, Rishi transferred his 50 percent stake in Catamaran Ventures UK to Akshata when he became a Member of Parliament in 2015.

Through Catamaran, Akshata has direct holdings in at least six UK companies – Jamie’s Italian, Jamie’s Pizzeria, Soroco, Wendy’s, Digme Fitness, and New & Lingwood.

She is also the director of the London-based gym chain, Digme Fitness. Akshata owns a 4.4 percent stake in Digme as of February 2022.

Next, Akshata is the director of the gentlemen’s outfitters, New & Lingwood.

Furthermore, Akshata has a 0.9 percent stake in Infosys, the software giant founded by her father, Narayana Murthy.

She is also a trustee of Claremont McKenna College.
