Deep-fried foods
Avoid carrying deep-fried foods such as french fries, pakoras or fried chicken in your tiffins. As they turn cold, they lose the crunch and become soggy and greasy.
Cut fruits
Certain fruits such as banana, apple or avocado can easily oxidise, thus turning brown and mushy if they have been cut. Packing them for lunch is a bad idea. Instead, carry these fruits whole so that they remain fresh and juicy.
Reheated seafood or fish
If you are carrying fish or seafood for your lunch at work, make sure they have been freshly cooked and cooled down before being packed. Seafood or fish that has been reheated becomes dry and rubbery besides being susceptible to bacterial growth. It can also give off a strong smell, unpleasant in office spaces.
Undressed leafy greens
If you want to eat healthy green salads for your lunch at office, you have to be wise. Do not add raw greens without proper seasoning or protein. When carried raw and in improper lunchboxes, the leafy greens can easily wilt and become dry, practically ruining your lunch.
Soups and heavy gravies
Office tiffins should ideally be dry and easy to eat. Carrying soups, broths or gravy food can be risky. Not only are they inconvenient to eat, they can be a nightmare to carry if you do not have leak-proof tiffins or thermals. If carried in improper utensils, the liquid cab spill and cause a mess.
