The Kawasaki Ninja range needs no introduction. The iconic brand name has stood for performance, agility, and unadulterated fun, since its inception and the Japanese brand has been cashing in on the craze for their bikes across the globe. The Ninja range has expanded over the years and the latest to join the line-up is the Ninja 400 – a bike that is touted to set a new standard in its segment.

Sharp styling
The motorcycle is clad in a keen new design with those edgy body panels ensuring that the bike delivers that sporty aggressive stance. Finished in high-quality materials, this model has a futuristic look that is said to be inspired by the mighty Ninja H2. The chin spoilers at the bottom of the front cowl draw their inspiration from the Ninja ZX-10R and the same goes for the LED taillight design. Equipped with the same instrument cluster as the Ninja 650, the 400 might be in a segment smaller, but it still carries the same high standards set by its bigger siblings.

Pure performance
Powering the new vehicle is a 399 cc motor that delivers on performance and controllability. The higher performance can largely be credited to the new downdraft intake, which is accompanied by a larger airbox offering increased intake efficiency. The smooth response and abundant low-end torque facilitate throttle control for new and experienced riders alike.

Built agile
The motorcycle offers light, and predictable handling making it both fun and easy to ride. The new model also features a swingarm mounting plate which allows the swingarm to be affixed to the rear of the engine and thus contributes to overall stability. Few noteworthy elements like largest brake disc in class, more rigid front fork and sporty riding position which can accommodate a wide range of rider sizes and riding situations make the bike very unique. Besides a cover for the radiator fan directs engine heat away from the rider, contributing to rider comfort.

Final verdict
Priced at `4,69,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Kawasaki Ninja 400 isn’t exactly cheap. The KTM Duke 390 and even the Yamaha R3 come for less and this might be a challenge for Kawasaki, however, as a product, the Ninja 400 is touted to be a sports model that offers an exciting ride experience that the other bikes might have trouble competing with.
