Birla Academy of Art and Culture to host Bengal Art Factory’s Summer Colour Carnival

Summer Colour Carnival  to showcase artworks by 50 painters, two sculptors, and two photographers

Bengal Art factory is organising its Summer Colour Carnival, a group exhibition which will showcase the works of 50 painters, two sculptors and two photographers. The exhibition has been curated by Kinkar Banerjee and will be inaugurated by former Sheriff and eminent journalist Utpal Chatterjee, with a member of WBSCHE, scientist Dr Sanat Kumar Saha and president of The Global Academy, Dr Suresh Kumar Agarwal in attendance.

Among the painters, you can expect to see the acrylic works of Dalim Sen, charcoal works of Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, wood burn paintings of Kartik Pramanik, along with the works of famous sculptor Avijit Das and photographer Soumen Chakraborty. There will be other artworks too- for example- landscape paintings, portrait photography and realistic paintings.

“Through this exhibition, we want to promote both the established artists as well as upcoming artists from all over West Bengal under one roof. It also makes the artworks more market-oriented and facilitates sustainability for the artists,” says Kinkar Banerjee, founder of Bengal Art Factory and curator of the exhibition.

Soumen Chakraborty, who specialises in portrait photography, will be exhibiting four photographs from his collection, of which, one is that of a woman playing Holi, another is of a man’s silhouette who is standing under a tree in Maidan and another, most coveted piece is those of two hands, holding a needle and thread. “Through the hands, I was trying to portray the struggle of a woman, an Alzheimer patient, who tries hard to keep a grip on reality, yet it slips from her hands every passing day. I have been showcasing my work with the Bengal Art Factory for a long time,” says Soumen who has been associated with ICCR, and has been pursuing photography professionally for six years now.
