After illustrating a number of books such as Shine Boards Arts - For Tame Pass, On a High Note - A Highly Inebriated Introduction to Western Classical Music, and Bangalore - Swinging in the 70's, Bengaluru-based artist Paul Fernandes launches his new work, CoastLine - An Amuseum of Mumbai Musings. The coffee table book offers a lighthearted account of the west coast of India.

The travelogue journeys through Mumbai, Goa and coastal Kerala, presenting illustrations of heritage Goan bungalows, lush green paddy fields and all the little elements and motifs that each place is known for. The illustrations are supported by commentary from Fernandes’ co-author Chicku Jayadeva. Spanning 160 pages, the hardcover book, priced at Rs.3,500, has 100 colour and 175 black & white illustrations.

Fernandes, who draws inspiration from legendary artist Mario Miranda, says, “India's west coast is a melting-pot of fierce diversity and its (mostly) happy corollary: fierce unity. The skyline is its visual manifestation—a crazy juxtaposition of minarets, domes and spires, grand tower-topped mansions and humble, crumbling abodes; high rises and coconut trees. Everywhere, people buzz about busily on business or pleasure.
