Chick Lit fans alert! From Zoe May to Jenni Keer five 2019 novels to add to your reading list

There’s nothing quite like escaping into an alternate world through a book and no genre does it better than chick lit. If you’re a fan of the genre, here are five books, from authors like Jenny Colgan and Christina Lauren, released in the first half of this year, that you cannot miss.

When Polly Met Olly - Zoe May

She’s supposed to set him up with one of her clients. Things take a turn for the worse when runs into the gorgeous Olly, who heads a rival dating agency.

The Hopes And Dreams Of Lucy Baker - Jenni Keer
Lucy, 25, is like an old woman in a young woman’s body. She prefers knitting and reading in her messy flat than stepping out and socialising. When 79-year-old Brenda, her close friend and neighbour, is diagnosed with dementia, she decides to push Lucy out of her comfort zone, to help her find happiness.

The Bookshop On The Shore - Jenny Colgan
Zoe a single mom wants to escape the city life and moves to the Scottish Highland with her son Hari, where she is due to take up a job as a nanny. There, she meets Nina, a quirky bookseller, and the two become good friends. But will this friendship and the country be enough to heal Zoe’s broken heart?

The Unhoneymooners - Christina Lauren
Olive’s identical sister, Ami, is about to get married, but a day before the wedding the entire wedding party falls ill after eating shellfish. The only two who are safe are Olive and the best man, Ethan, who is her nemesis. Now, with two free tickets to an all-expenses paid honeymoon up for grabs, Olive and Ethan put their differences aside to make the best of their free holiday, separately. But when one lie leads to another, they are forced to spend all their time together.

How to Hack a Heartbreak - Kristin Rockaway
Mel Strickland is a helpdesk technician at a start-up and her work involves helping entitled programmers. When she goes on one too many bad dates she meets on a popular dating app called Fluttr, she decides to take matters into her own hands and develops a new app, JerkAlert, that weeds out harassers and creeps in the online dating space. The app goes viral overnight but no one knows who is behind it. Will she be able to keep her identity under wraps forever? Especially from  Alex Hernandez, the only decent guy at her office?
