No Fathers in Kashmir, the film that was banned by the Censor Board for eight months will finally release in theatres this April. Directed by Ashvin Kumar, the Oscar-nominated director, the film deals with the themes of hope, peace and humanity. It features Soni Razdan, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Anshuman Jha, Maya Sarao and Ashvin himself. It is set to release on April 5 across cinemas in India.

The story traces a teenage British Kashmiri, Noor, who in an attempt to retrace her roots comes back to Kashmir. There she meets Majid, a local boy. Majid is smitten by Noor and goes out of his way to help her. He takes her to a forbidden area near the Indo-Pak border fraught with danger. They stumble upon a dark secret and things go awry when they’re arrested. Noor is soon released but Majid continues to be under arrest. Will she be able to get Majid released? And can love ever be the same again for these two?

The makers have now released the first poster of the film which features the shattered screen of a phone behind which two blue-eyed, grinning 16-year-olds peer out. Talking about the poster the director said, "It is a film made for young people all over India to connect with young people all over Kashmir, about the euphoria and hopefulness of being young. The earlier A certificate would keep both these audiences away from each other. Now with the U/A certification, I am confident kids will come out with their hearts beating for Kashmir."

This latest film is part of the Kashmir films trilogy by Ashvin. His last two films in this series were Inshallah Football and Inshallah Kashmir. In fact, it was his other short film Little Terrorist that put the filmmaker in the spotlight. This film was nominated in the short film category at the Oscars in 2005. Later it won two National Awards in 2013.
