Fear not, I’m not going to wax on about Valentine’s Day, although the city was enveloped in a big heart-shaped cloud this week. In all fairness though, it wasn’t all just for the lovebirds, with lots of options for everyone else as well. One of the V-Day events included the launch of Minnie Menon’s exclusive jewellery line for the occasion, at Mehta Jewellery. The occasion drew the MM regulars along with a smattering of new faces. And just in case you’re wondering it wasn’t all one-sided, with a range of cufflinks for men in silver and semi-precious stones.

The retail therapy continued at The Armoire Pop Up’s Beyond the Bougainvillea, where the ladies turned up bright and early and kept up a steady chatter all day long. Even if you were there to ‘just have a look’, you could be sure you wouldn’t leave empty-handed. It was a serious girl-bonding the situation with all the girls encouraging each other to try on their favourite pieces. Yours truly was also guilty of both encouraging and being encouraged. Although if I’m being honest, I didn’t need much convincing.

Valentine’s Day for me also included a fun partner Yoga workshop with Mansi Gandhi, at Jen Thomas’ Fitness Studio. ‘Grab a friend and join us’ is what it said and I dragged my buddy Shilpa (both of us yoga newbies), and decided to try it out. Despite our many misgivings it turned out to be a super fun session with us even managing to pull off the ‘airplane’ pose. Hashtag ‘High five!’

My weekend also included a quick trip to Bengaluru for the Winter Derby 2018. One of the most looked forward to events of the year, saw the ‘swish set’ in attendance, not just from the host city, but from Chennai as well. Many of the popular faces were guests of Anjan Rangaraj, CEO, Catalyst Properties that organised the event. It was an impressive display all around, with derby appropriate attire; so feathers, hats, sweeping skirts and suits in fun colours. As we sipped on our bubbly, we got the racing punters to give us a few tips, along with a crash course on horse racing terminology.
