Food and fitness scored higher than fashion this week, with a slightly different range of events to choose from. My weekend started at the Express Avenue Wellness fest, where all manner of alternate healing and therapies could be found under one roof. From face reading to angel cards and sound therapy, everything was on offer. The fest was inaugurated with the launch of Wellness Consultant Ishani Vellodi Reddy’s new website. I spent most of my time at the healing crystals section, followed by a fun talk on affirmations by Puja Gupta.
Meanwhile, at Phoenix MarketCity, the auditions for the Chennai edition of World of Dance were underway. The city put its best foot forward (pun intended), and killer moves were served up with serious swag. Even the after party at Wire Room went by in a blur of dancing, with celeb dancers and WOD Head Judges Jesse Lee Santos and Kevin Konkrete present.
On the foodie side, it seems everyone in the city was present at the Great Madras Bake sale in Adyar with Chennai’s best home bakers coming together for a mouth-watering event. ‘Try everything’ was the motto to start with, but with cakes, brownies, pies and more to choose from, we weren’t judging anyone who left with armloads of goodies for later. The other event this week was the Savera Foodie Boss Awards celebrating smaller eateries and vendors in the city. From chaat to podi idlis, we were pleased to see all our favourite spots on the list.
And for that touch of fashion, without which no week would be complete, was the launch of the super popular brand Raw Mango at Collage. With loads of ardent fans, it’s no surprise that the showcase drew quite a crowd, most already familiar with the brand’s philosophy. The ladies admired the new collection over wine and cheese, and made a beeline for their favourites.
