Sun, sand and surf were the keywords this weekend, as we spent pretty much all of it at the Covelong Point Surf Yoga Music Festival, soaking up all the beachy goodness. While the athletes battled it out in the water, across various categories, we had the luxury of being spectators and cheering them on whilst enjoying our iced popsicles. Some of us found a good vantage point and stayed put, while others decided to get their workout for the day with a little yoga, surfing — both the real and the photo booth kind, and even some weight training. I most definitely ate my weight in food, with so much to choose from. The spring potatoes or the pork sliders? The berry smoothie or the Nutella milkshake? Decisions, decisions.
There were also plenty of delicious treats to choose from at a live cookout session with celebrity chef Nishant Choubey in collaboration with Le Creuset, at Palladium Chennai.
Meanwhile, on the fashion front, the fourth edition of Six Yard Couture was underway at Express Avenue. Choreographed by Ganesh Gurung, the show featured collections for both men and women with the highlight being the saris from Asif Merchant. The ladies in the audience loved the intricate work, perfect for the festive season ahead, and beautiful pieces that could be handed down, generation to generation. Adding that extra touch were show stoppers Eden Kurikosse, Shakshi Agarwal and Meera Mithun.
Earlier in the week, we saw makeup fans flocking to Nykaa at VR Chennai for a special Master Class by Prakruthi Ananth. No surprises that every single seat in the house was full (and all the standing room as well), as ‘Prak’ talked everyone through an ultra-glam look. The model for the evening was the now-famous Varshita T, described by Prak as “a whirlwind of a model, discovered by Sabyasachi, inspiring women everywhere as the first curvy model of the brand, breaking the Internet every step of the way”.
The final stop was at Amethyst, for a special talk between designer Anupama Dayal and Anita Ratnam that was both entertaining and insightful. Besides delving into the specifics of Anupama’s signature methods, it also covered broader issues like sustainability in the fashion industry, dealing with fabric waste, and the business of weddings.
