Nothing like the smell of freshly brewed coffee to invigorate you. Canvas by Sketch played host to a coffee workshop where expert Geetu Mohnani showed us the ropes, and made us see the humble beverage in a whole new light. While the invite may have been a call to those with OCD – ‘Obsessive Coffee Disorder,’ it was an assorted gathering of coffee lovers, from the hard core to the somewhat curious. A pre-session chat revealed that while South Indian filter coffee is still a favourite, everyone was excited to learn about the nuances and most importantly, how to brew a good cuppa joe, themselves. We were treated to cold brews, perfect for our tropical weather, with combos like coffee and orange juice, tonic and a range of liquers, for those with a sweet tooth. Each set was paired with delicate nibbles, bite-sized and elegantly plated.
It was a foodie sort of week with the reopening of Bombay Brasserie’s College Road outlet, with a new look and fresh menu. While the space has been refurbished, the menu does include some old favourites. The evening saw foodies, K-town celebs and P3 regulars, taking part in a gastronomical food trail called the ‘travelers table’ serving specialties from different parts of India. Meanwhile, across town Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai hosted the launch of their Anglo-Indian Food pop-up at Salt Co 531. Guests got to try popular favourites like the Mulligatawny Soup, Pork Roast and classic Bread Pudding.
Adding to the festive cheer has been a series of Christmas tree lighting ceremonies all over the city, following the wave of cake mixing. This week saw the Hilton playing host, spreading smiles with the kids from the Premavasam NGO. While the little ones got involved helping the chefs build the ginger bread house, the adults enjoyed the special mulled wine.
