This week of parties in Chennai was an eclectic mix of sports, beauty and luxury

Life post IPL and GoT may have seemed a little dull, but I guess we didn’t have to wait long, with the ICC Cricket World Cup promising to keep us busy for the next little while. Travel plans are underway, as several cricket buffs from the city, get set to cheer our Boys in Blue, in person. One of the ladies even admitted to me that she was trying to squeeze in a quick Backstreet Boys concert, to make the most of the trip. Talk about multi-tasking.

Meanwhile, in Chennai this week, the lifestyle and beauty brigade was all abuzz with the launch of The Lash Studio on Khader Nawaz Khan Road. With colourful (and delicious) specially designed macaroons making up the invite hamper, expectations were high. ‘All this fuss over eyelashes?’ you might ask. ‘Hell yes!’ Would be my answer. No one was surprised at the turnout for the launch, least of all Renuka Praveen, the person behind the concept studio. A trained lash artist, Renuka was also sporting a killer set of fluttery beauties that all the ladies couldn’t get enough off. Doing the honours and officially inaugurating the new space was actor Meena who was joined by a few film industry ‘WAGS’.

The city also saw not one but two launches in the interior décor department, starting off with the launch of D’ Decor with its second showroom, this time at Palladium. Interior designers and architects made up a huge chunk of the guest list, as they enjoyed the new range over short eats and mocktails. Meanwhile, at Nungambakkam, Drapes and Dreams — a multi-designer home decor store, opened its doors. Everyone had their designer digs on, as they explored the four storey space, over wine, cheese and some intricate guitar melodies.

With Eid around the corner, and another reason for some festive shopping, an exclusive showcase Lamha was put together by fashion designer Rubeena at her boutique. A select group of ladies got to preview the collection, curated specially for the season. Rubeena played the gracious host and we spotted quite a few fun outfits, both on the guests and on display.
