Hours and hours of rigorous practice and grooming culminated in the finale of the Phoenix Fashion Icon 2019. Newbies walked the ramp at Phoenix Market City, nervous, excited, but trying their best to exude confidence for the judges. After all, it’s not every day that Mugdha Godse asks you how you’d make someone feel special on a date. The rest of the judging panel comprised Prachi Tehlan, Vivek Karunakaran and Osman Abdul Razak, with questions that ranged from funny to thought provoking.  And it wasn’t just walking and talking, one of the rounds even included a dance performance, set to ‘filmi’ tunes. After jumping through all the metaphorical hoops, Jita Mopatara and Manish Kumar emerged victorious. Joining them in their victory walk was a beaming Sandeep Dharma, mentor and show director.

This weekend also saw ‘The Conscious Market’ in its second edition at Express Avenue, featuring everything from wellness workshops to organics goodies and handmade products. A lot of people were interested in the vegan angle, many practicing vegans, as well as others who were curious and wanted to try the vegan buffet. We checked all the boxes on the mall front, with the next stop taking us to VR Chennai for ‘World on a Plate’ featuring celebrity chefs Vicky Ratnani, Sarah Todd and Saransh Goila. As you can imagine, there were some serious ‘fan moments’ with all three chefs having amassed a huge following online, especially Sarah. Those who had rooted for her from her MasterChef Australia days were dying for a selfie, and she obliged.

Speaking of celebrities, it’s not often you get to meet the cast and crew of the world’s longest running play, but theatre lovers in city got the opportunity this week at Cottingley. The occasion was a special dinner hosted for the team of The Mousetrap, Agatha Christie’s iconic West End Production, as part of their Chennai visit. A few of the same faces were then seen at the launch of Armoraa, a skin and hair clinic, along with lots of K-Town bigwigs.
