Paloma around town: Gingham, waffles and a liberal dose of LOL

Here's a quick rewind of the hottest happenings in Chennai over the past week

Food and pampering were mostly what this week was about, starting off with the launch of Gingham by Bath and Body Works at Express Avenue. The afternoon event was about ‘all things pretty’ as the ladies turned up looking their best, many in the signature colours and gingham print. They also got to take back a floral bouquet matching the theme. To say that the new range was a hit would be an understatement with everyone especially loving the shimmer mists. Our next stop was at Volt The Luxury Style Bar for Nashi Day, introducing us to the Italian Brand Nashi Argan, in the best possible way — with a spa day. Our hair woes were seen to, and our troubles washed away (pun intended) as we luxuriated in the all-organic line. Of course we ended the session with lots of boomerangs and ‘slo-mo’ shots of our shiny locks.

Many of the same faces were seen at Art Meets Food at Courtyard by Marriott, a multisensory experience bringing together the best of both worlds. Artists Aji Adoor, Anitha TK and Martin OC showcased their artwork, complemented by displays courtesy chefs Naresh, Arpan and Akhilesh. Not only was it all highly ‘Instagrammable’ but equally delicious with everyone lining up for second helpings of the Sepu Vadi from Himachal and the Lucknow Biryani.

Meanwhile, across town a Masquerade party was underway at Drizzle on ECR, hosted by the all women’s Rotary Club RID 3232. The fundraising event saw most guests in their black tie best, many going the shimmery route both with their clothes and headgear. Also taking place this week were the Belgian Day celebrations at Taj Coromandel with a cocktail evening, attended by the diplomatic brigade along with several popular faces from the city. As expected the highlight was the dessert counter, with both waffles and the Belgian chocolate emerging as the favourites for the night.

And closing out the week was a stand-up comedy performance by Atul Khatri at the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, well attended by a mixed crowd.
