Warm colours are all the rage across high fashion and pop culture; from the Hadid sisters to Kendall Jenner, and the entire B-town, everyone’s dressing up in rich, fiery colours. It’s common knowledge that icier and pale tones take a backseat in the monsoons, and with ‘living coral’ being the ‘Pantone Colour of the Year’, we found a lot of famous names leaning towards similar warm shades like scarlet, auburn, tangerine, blood orange etc. And if you’re looking to do the same this Independence Day, how about picking a colour from our own flag?

Yes, we’re talking about saffron, which fits our fashion trend memo just right. And we don’t speak without credible evidence. Remember when Kim Kardashian West took the streets of Tokyo by storm with her flaming saffron top from her husband Kanye West’s label Yeezy’s Season 7? That really should have been our first clue about things to come. Over the last year more and more supermodels, actors and influencers have been exploring shades of orange as their go-to statement wear.

Saffron or even other shades of orange are very easy to pair as you can always play it safe and team it up with dark bottoms as Kim does. If you want to go the other way, you can play with lengths, like pairing a saffron or orange crop top with an asymmetrical mini or fringed pants. But saffron or warm red shades are amazing for trends like colour blocking or even tie-dye. Priyanka Chopra recently wore a solid orange caped dress from Alex Perry’s resort collection, and totally aced the look. Priyanka, of course, ditched any bling or added accessories for her look, and that’s a great hack for wearing shades of orange, as not a lot of metallic hues go with warm orange hues.

If you don’t want to go for a shock orange number, why not try out colours in the same colour palette? Like burnt orange or even peach. You can also try pairing saffron or flaming shades with balmy or pale hues, like eggshell or icy salmon. In fact, salmon is a great way to try out the colour clash trend this season and is also a runway-approved shade.

For instance, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner recently co-ordinated their outfits at a recent afterparty; while Kendall went for a blingy, asymmetrical dress, Bella chose a rich salmon tea-length number. You can also try adding in an element of shock to go with your pastels, like a pair of rested orange boots or a bright saffron belt.
