Did someone say boho luxe? Twirl with the wind in Arpita Mehta's Autumn/Winter'18 collection where the vibe is breezy, and the silhouettes breezier. The designer has captured the effervescent spirit of Caprese with a fusion destination wear collection that spells feminine yet flirty.

Prints have always been an integral part of Arpita's brand ethos, and the undying allure of floral hydrangeas shares top billing in her new line-up, along with geometrical accents and deck chair stripes. The jet setting woman on the go can look for some effortless off-duty chic with kaftan capes, tiered ruffle pants, boho maxis and bitsy bralettes. Those looking to dial things up a notch can expect to make heads turn in the lapel paneled cape and ruffled tulip skirts.

With a colour palette progressing from dainty pastels to siren reds, frozen blues and mauves, the designer has also trained a laser focus on the embroidery that utilizes poth in a distinctive way along with mirror, cutdana and threadwork. Inspired by linear motifs and hydrangea flowers, the mood is dictated by the beautiful mélange of linear as well as floral embroidery.

Tell us a little about the brand at LFW.

This is my eighth season at Lakme Fashion Week and I am really excited to be a part of it this season. We have been doing successful shows throughout the journey at Lakme Fashion Week and the brand has grown immensely since the beginning.

What collection will be on display?

This time we are showcasing a festive fusion line which goes parallel with the festive collection Caprese has recently launched. Keeping the product in mind we have created a very feminine, fun, flirty and boho luxe fusion collection which is also festive at the same time.

What is the USP of the brand?

Embroidery and prints have always been an integral part of the brand and we also keep reinventing mirror work. We play a lot with floral prints but this time we have also experimented with a little more than usual with deck stripes and you will be seeing how it unfolds at the Lakme Fashion Week showcase.

What are some of the pieces that are showstoppers?

My most favorite piece is the deck stripes tiered ruffle saree. I think it is a really fun spin on the saree as well as stripes and they both come together beautifully to make a unique fun ensemble.

What kind of cuts can one expect at LFW?

We are playing around with a lot of fusion sheath-like sexy cuts. There are numerous tiny multiple strap bralettes along with paneled and lapeled capes which are our new take on the paneled cape. Really interesting shapes in terms of kaftan capes, tiered ruffle pants, boho maxis, bitsy bralettes and onesies.

What kind of fabrics are used for this collection.

Free flowing and slinky georgette and silk crepes are the main fabric used in most of the pieces of this collection.

What’s next for you?

We have seen growth throughout the brand’s journey and I am eager to share thrilling collaborations which will be coming soon. This is just the start for the brand and hope this journey is as memorable as each moment since the onset.
