VERSE, WITH THE tagline ‘Writing the dazzle wear story’, believes women are the best form of poetry. And with their fine craftsmanship and rich silhouettes, the three-year-old wedding wear label is making their wedding trousseau a poet’s inspiration.

The 6,000 sq ft studio, situated near Park Street in Park Lane that specialises in couture and prêt wear for brides and bridesmaid deserves a mention for four dedicated rooms, keeping in mind the privacy and comfort of the clients. “The would-be bride comes with her family and not alone. We acknowledge that they need privacy, so these four rooms keep them secluded from the main area and give them that space and comfort when selecting and buying their outfits,” points out owner Anand Saraff who has 25 years of practical knowledge in the industry.

Their latest collection, Gulnaaz, has been crafted keeping in mind the new-age bride who is rooted in tradition but has a modern outlook. A self-on-self lehenga in cherry red with a full sequins and embroidery work on the blouse and skirt looked gorgeous. What gave it a contemporary lift was the trail. In their prêt line you can find a lot of ruffles, layers and drapes in soothing shades of blush pink, aqua, cream and more in this collection. Playing with organza and net, the trending fabric, the drape saris and skirts are edgy and dramatic. Sample a soft lilac coloured sleeveless gown with fine godets in the body and boned-ruffles falling like a wavy drape from the side. This is perfect for a mehendi or sangeet suggests Anand, who has plans to take the brand to new heights that includes making it to the big fashion shows in Mumbai and Delhi. “We have already participated in the Kolkata Expo and have had the best models showcasing our products. We need to polish ourselves more before we hit the big runway. We are not in any rush though,” avers Anand. He does inform us that Tollywood stars like Mimi Chakraborty and Ritabhari Chakraborty have worn their ensembles, besides Dangal star Zaira Wasim (who was in the news recently for quitting Bollywood).

From the Indo-Western style, a navy blue drape gown with a detachable high-collar velvet jacket replete with zari detailing caught our attention. Worth mentioning is an aqua gown with uber cool jacket sleeves dropping till the floor. Their traditional lehengas, weigh eight to 15 kgs, in shades of red, pink and midnight blue with heavy detailing of mukaish, leather patchwork, French knots and zari work are for those who want to go traditional on their big day.

Rs 15,000 onwards.
