Four years down the line and 12 editions later, Funky Fish’s shows are still Chennai’s most sought-after prét pop-ups. Introducing the city to eclectic brands like Bobo Calcutta and Valliyan that treat fashion as art, indie labels with dramatic cuts, experimental prints and flamboyant aesthetics have remained the favoured choice of Pavithra Sagar and Nikita Kapoor Bajaj. “We have mastered the art of curating quirky, one-of-a-kind design offerings,” says Pavithra.

Even as regulars like Sougat  Paul, Archana Rao return to this year’s festive edit, the duo has roped in names like Kolkata-based Devina Juneja who works with leather appliqué on garments, EnEch — a Mumbai label that specialises in monochrome fluid silhouettes and Jaipur-based Armuse by Ayushi known for their dynamic hand embroidery.

Maison Blu

Mumbai-based designer Anisha Nawal of Maison Blu enjoys playing with neon hues, incorporating tassels and ruffles and using intricate, yet bold metallic threadwork in her line of fusion wear. “Our range is inclined towards a boho-chic aesthetic that is easy-to-wear and offers a contemporary twist,” says Anisha. Set to showcase 25 styles from her pre-fall line Aarsi, the collection includes shararas, cowl skirts and pants, dhoti pants, asymmetrical hem tunics and draped saris. Rs 25,000 onwards.

Kritika Muraka
An environmentally conscious designer, Kritika Muraka’s tryst with all things natural doesn’t just end with her experiments with indigenous handwoven weaves. The Kolkatta-based designer has been largely influenced by nature, motifs of which are recurrent through her past and current collections. Debuting her new line, Desert Rose, floral patterns are predominant in the collection that features Benarasi silk. “My S/S line, Spring Fling, of printed tunics, jackets, pants, dresses that were inspired by the wings of insects will also be available,” she says. Rs 6,000 onwards.

The Right Cut
Breaking away from their label’s staple hues, The Right Cut’s latest line throws shades like wine purple, deep red and grey into the mix. “We have always been biased in favour of lighter shades. But we have seen a growing demand within the eveningwear segment,” explains co-founder Avisha Agrawal. Inspired by flowering trees, Garlands of Gulmohar uses motifs like rose bell buds and berries on a variation of angarkhas, dresses, skirts and kurtas. Rs 5,000 onwards.
At The Hyatt Regency. On September 30. From 11 am to 8 pm.
