In the last few months, B-town divas such as Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol and Bhumi Pednekar had one thing in common. They all stepped out wearing jewellery from the Mumbai-based portal Tyaani.com. And why not, after all, one of the partners and the brand ambassadors happen to be none other than B’town bigwig Karan Johar. Hence without much ado, we made our way to check out the second experiential store of the brand last Sunday. The flagship store happens to be in Mumbai. Tyaani.com is a fast fashion line launched by Satyani Fine Jewels and in Hyderabad, the franchise is owned by AK Fine Jewels.

Top picks
At the entrance, a life-size poster of Karan Johar greeted us, maybe to make up for the fact that he couldn’t be present at the unveiling. In a previous conversation, he had told us about what the patrons might expect from this collection. “We wanted to make accessories that are fashion forward; something that everybody can wear and is within their reach,” said the director adding, that a few top picks from the collection are the chandbalis that pair beautifully even with western attire and the maangtika. But apart from these, there are cocktail rings, chokers and kadas.

Mooning over chandbalis

Our curiosity was piqued as we surveyed through the various sections of the store. One of the first things that we noticed was the tasteful decor with brick-encrusted walls and in shades of gold. As we got chatting with Shravan Satyani of Mumbai-based Satyani Fine Jewels, we learnt that the store offers exclusive polki designs crafted by artisans in Jaipur and Bikaner. The highlight of this brand definitely is chandbalis. “We have around 150 variations of chandbalis. We create these moon-shaped earrings with diamond, turquoise, rubies, emerald and  corals,” says Shravan. As we look at the pieces, we notice that the styling is modern but the make is traditional with an antique finish. The store could easily be a one-stop shop for brides looking out for an entire collection. Also, if a fashionista is just looking to amp up her glamour quotient by buying a beautifully designed cocktail ring or tiny earrings, they can shop for that here as well. “We have about 500 pieces of that,” adds Shravan.

Pop Up Factor
The label also aims to make pop-ups by big names in jewellery design a regular feature. When jewellery designer Maheep Kapoor came down to inaugurate Tyaani.com’s store in Hyderabad, she brought some of her designs, including the chandbalis she is known for. In a chat with us, she said,  “It gives me great pleasure in catering to women in Hyderabad because they understand their jewellery. I aim to create heirloom pieces rather than following trends. Whoever buys my pieces should keep it in the cupboard to give it to their kids,” she said, adding that her daughter Shanaya Kapoor is one of her biggest inspirations.

Rs 15,000 onwards.
