This weekend label Chidiyaa is all set to bring their repertoire of 4,000 ensembles to Hyderabad at an exclusive exhibition at Saptaparni. “This happens to be our largest ever pop-up ever,” says the founder of the Gurgaon-based four-year-old brand, Pooja Rajput. The label, she says is her connection to the heartland, and a love for Indian weaves, something she developed during her travels. “Most of the linen that we use in a village in West Bengal called Phulia and block-printed in Ajrakhpur, in Bhuj,” says MBA-graduate-turned-founder.
Apart from the clothes that one can spot on their portal, she is getting a soon-to-be-released collection for preview. Instead of adopting the colour palette that she mostly works with — indigo and ivory — this time, she has taken a different approach and included shades like maroon and bottle green. The collection, Fields of Gold, is crafted from a fabric called Modal Silk, which lends a golden hue and is luxurious to touch.
The Hyderabadis, visiting the three-day exhibition can look forward to picking up saris in sea green, bottle green, mustard yellow, and indigo. The motifs featuring dragonflies, crescent moons going into an eclipse and birds in motion, are all embroidered.
