Label Ereena by city-based designer Jyoti Reddy, known for getting eri silks to the city, has come up with new collections for the season that highlight the versatility of this Assamese fabric. Crafted by the Bodo artisans, this weave is considered ‘nature’s gift for all seasons’, Jyoti says. One of her muses in the city includes actress and activist Amala Akkineni. She goes on to add that since it is inherently isothermal, it is designed to keep one warm in winters. Jyoti is all set to unveil a collection in this silk using the uppada and jamdani techniques, which will be launched post an exclusive fashion show in the Palace of Baroda. The collection is called Ativa and features rich hues. Also, recently she has launched a new collection comprising saris, flowy tunics and kurtas with a variety of eri silk that has the look of linen. The bonus? This hand-spun weave is chemical-free and created with natural dyes. Expect bright but earthy tones, mentions Jyoti. “This fabric does not crease like linen, has a great fall and is uniquely versatile and eco-friendly,” she shares. This sari collection and matching blouse materials are currently available in her Jubilee Hills studio. The designer who has taken her designs to exhibitions in New York and Paris, mentions that she is also in the process of creating natural dye fabrics and is stocking up on her collection of stoles and shawls. Rs 6,000 onwards.
