The importance of traveling light was something business partners Madhurima Tongia and Deepa Choudhary felt strongly about when they set about designing the latest collection for their Bengaluru-based slow fashion label, Moborr, named after a picturesque beach in South Goa. “Our new collection is a practical line of clothing that aims to solve travel woes while planning things to carry. It is about packing light and reducing decision fatigue when you are on the go. We have put great amount of thought into ensuring that every piece that goes in your suitcase works and makes itself count,” shares Madhurima.
The launch of the travel line comes on the heels of their online store going live. Previously retailing out of stores in Pondi-cherry, Goa and Bengaluru, their e-store stocks pieces from all their collections. “The nature of our fabrics and fuss-free silhouettes which can be worn all year long has created a lot of interest in the US, Europe, Singapore and the Middle East, so it became imperative that we launch a multi-currency-enabled webstore,” she explains.
The two-year-old label uses organic cotton and artisan woven silk. The silhouettes are easy and comfortable. “Our latest collection features easy-going dresses, reversible jackets, comfortably chic bottoms for long flights, layering pieces, resort wear blouses, cocktail dresses and overcoats,” shares Madhurima. Some of the key pieces include a well tailored racerback dress, which is perfect for both day and evening wear, the Warche, a delicate silk blouse, and a reversible cropped jacket.
Having found a strong customer base in Bengaluru, Moborr plans to start retailing in Chennai, Kolkata and Singapore in the next few months.
