Lakmé Fashion Week announces the second edition of The Platform

The Platform, an initiative through which promising young designers get a chance to showcase their talents, debuted at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter / Festive 2018. Now, it’s back with its second edition, with the theme #MadeDifferently.

It is a programme, in association with Smartwater by Coca Cola, designed to spot and mentor young designers who have an inherent ability and willingness to push the envelope when it comes to fashion. With the theme #MadeDifferently, LFW is looking for applications from creative minds who use cutting edge technology, innovative fabrics and materials or surface application.

The theme for the season, #MadeDifferently, invites designers who use cutting edge technology and demonstrate innovation in fabrics/materials or surface application. Three designers will be selected and they will be mentored by fashion experts from the country and will get a chance to display their collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019. In addition, one of the three winners will be given the opportunity to win a one-week incubator program and a scholarship fee of Rs.3 lakhs.

Speaking about the association, Coca-Cola India spokesperson says, ‘The debut of ‘The Platform’ last year led to the discovery of meritorious designers, who not only enthralled us with their creativity but also set high bench marks across the fashion fraternity. We are proud of our previous season’s winner Kanika Goyal, who got recognised by Forbes India in their ‘30 under 30 Young Achievers’ 2019 list. We are excited for the second edition of The Platform and look forward to welcome smart and original thinkers who resonate with this year’s theme #MadeDifferently.”

Last date for entries is June 15.
