Bengaluru-based sari label, Vimor, celebrates 45 years with an event dedicated to handloom

Vimor, the Bengaluru-based handloom sari label celebrates it 45th anniversary with A Handloom Voyage. Currently underway, it is a five-day event dedicated to bring awareness on the subject of communities joining hands to preserve the weaves of the country.  Through talks, screenings, musical performances, curated walks and fashion shows, the event seeks to offer insight into revival, renewal, innovation and empowerment of handloom communities and their contribution to the industry

Started by Chimmy Nanjappa in 1974, Vimor is currently run by her daughter Pavithra Muddaya. Besides covering topics related to the handloom industry in India, it will also give visitors a glimpse into the history and journey of the label. 

Some of the highlights include a fashion show by Prasad Bidapa (November 9, 6.30 pm), ‘Textile Conservation Workshop’ (November 10, 2 pm), a talk on ‘Sarees without Borders: Stories of Design’ (November 11, 4 pm) and ‘Vimor’s Love Affair With Rajasthan’ (November 12, 2 pm).
