IF YOU ARE looking for a shopping spot this weekend, then this is it! The 19th edition of Pause for a Cause will bring together labels like Upasana Design Studio, Marm, Kameez, Sailesh Singhania, Sattva, Label Zohra, Kaurwaki and many more. “Pause for a Cause will feature traditional wear and saris along with edgy new-age designs,” says Mamta Mahajan, head of all exhibitions at Pause for a Cause . Organised by Secure Giving in aid of Concern India Foundation, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated towards social development activities in the space of education, health and community development. We take a look at some of the labels that are in the city for the first time.
Cut to the chase
Coming to the city for the first time is Delhi-based slow fashion label Juanita, with their new collection, Aureole. Helmed by Shubhda Priya, the brand has launched 12 styles. The 29-year-old uses more of flowy, clean cuts with texture embroidery and tucks. With 100 pieces on display, the eco-friendly label is all about minimalism. “The fabric we use if from the weavers of Bihar, and we work with pastel hues like old rose, steel grey, powder blue, lilac, peach, and ivory all of which enhances the dreamy element of her outfits.” From `3,000 up to `12,000.
Back to basics
Another brand entering the city for the first time is Taraasi from Bhopal who are bringing a whopping 300 pieces in 50 different designs. With a warm colour scheme, Taraasi will be showcasing their collected named backtograssroots. Rupinderjit Walia and Tarannum Abbas Ibrahim (who is actually from Pune), who is a doctor and software engineer respectively, found the label in 2017.
A Boho style with silhouettes that are classy and elegant, the duo source their fabric from Baragaon weaves in UP. Find dresses made of pure mull fabric, handbook cottons and organic cotton with natural dyes. Starting from `2,900 till `9,000.
Indigo play
If you see beautiful indigo designs like an indigo poncho with peacock prints, or printed indigo sari, you’re at Aavaran. The brand from Akola, Udaipur aims to promote and evolve traditional crafts “We will be bringing several pieces from our collection Saavan, which are all indigo prints,” says Suresh of Aavaran. Founded by Alka Sharma in 2005, Aavaran’s attempt is to evolve the traditional Dabu mud resist technique of printing, specifically the indigo dyed phentiya print of Mewar Region. Starting from `3,000 onwards.
