Sanchez opens in Indira Nagar with a new menu and live taqueria

Sanchez, the popular Mexican restaurant recently opened its doors in Indira Nagar. But if you thought it’s just an extension of its UB City outlet and is not worth a visit, you’d be wrong. The new outpost boasts a taqueria (a live taco bar) and a menu with some really exciting options, think wet burritos and garnachas. We visited on a weekday evening to sample their new offerings. Chef Vikram Seth’s extensive research in Mexico means the menu goes beyond just the enchiladas and chimichangas.

The chef started us off with the Oaxacan Artisan Queso Fresco — a plate of fresh homemade cheese with a dollop of smokey chipotle and grilled Bolillo bread. Rich and velvety, the cheese (queso fresco) was subtly flavoured but paired with the fiery chipotle and the baguette-style Mexican bread, made in-house, it was sensational. From the taqueria, we sampled the  Pulled Smokey Chipotle Chicken in Hard Blue Corn Tacos. We thoroughly enjoyed the hard shell made with blue corn and the filling of pulled chicken, mozzarella and roasted tomato salsa. We also recommend the Tenderloin Chilli Con Carne Chilaquiles, a Mexican-style lasagne which is layered with tortilla chips, ranchero sauce, queso sauce, chilli con carne and cheese.

For desserts, we suggest the Dulce De Leche Ice Cream Taco. Velvety, rich and sandwiched in soft home-made bread, it was the fitting end to the decadent meal.

Despite playing to the gallery with favourites such as tacos, nachos and quesadillas, the new Sanchez also impresses with plenty of options for those looking for something exotic and unusual.
