With the motto ‘of the people, by the people, for the people’, The Bangalore Street Club is a collaborative space that aims to bring together street food, cocktails and performances, under one roof. With a menu covering different cuisines, street food from across the country, and signature cocktails and mocktails, the establishment has something for everyone. We paid a visit for lunch to find out more. It has an art-deco-meets-diner vibe with golden accents and deep green tones. Their bar will open this weekend and will offer drinks such as Ganne Ka Vodka, Vodka Shikanji Buzz and Kala Khatta Tequila. We started with the refreshing Cucumber Ginger Lime, which was the perfect antidote to the unusually hot October afternoon.

Snack of all trades
The first dish on our table was the Charred Dhokla Chaat, bite-sized dhokla pieces topped with a yogurt sauce. The combination of the two classic snacks — dhokla and chaat — was a winner. You can also choose from Sweet Potato Chole Chaat and Rasgulla Chaat. After this experimental take, we were served a classic — Pav Bhaji. And one can’t go wrong with hot buttered bread and the spicy bhaji.

Post this, we moved to the South Indian section of the menu for flavours that are closer to home. We tried some Masala Podi Idli and an Uttapam topped with sauteed mushrooms. While the former was yummy, it’s the latter that scored full marks for innovation. Their piquant chutneys and perfectly seasoned sambar also deserve a mention.

Smoke point
Our next stop on the menu was the Kebab Station. You may have had many a Paneer Tikka, (we know we have had more than our fair share), but here, the chefs whipped up a Palak Paneer Tikka. With a delightful spinach sauce, the soft paneer melted in our mouth. The Tandoori Chicken Lollipop was well cooked and moreish, a perfect accompaniment to their drinks. Another recommendation is Haleem Ke Kebab — tender and succulent patties made of haleem served on sheermal  flatbread.

Our main course consisted of an array of curries paired with some fresh Indian breads. The Kundapur Mutton Ghee Roast was on point with its flavourful and authentic gravy. We rounded off our meal with a warm Gulab Jamun, that was much-needed after all the spice. Along with their bar, they also plan to open an artisanal coffee counter and host performances inside the venue. With its casual atmosphere and diverse menu, The Bangalore Street Club is ideal for a relaxed lunch with friends or family.
