Loaded Papdi Nachos at Mishmash

As we walked into the new Mishmash in HSR Layout, a burst of Mediterranean blues and pinks greeted us. Offering a mix of Mexican, Asian, Italian, South and North Indian food, along with Indian-inspired cocktails, the restaurant is truly a ‘mishmash’ of flavours and experiences. And our lunch proved that they offer something for everyone.

We started our meal with a shot glass of Tulsi Tamatar Ka Shorba. This was a take on regular Indian tomato soup, with the addition of holy basil. The Spicy Thai Pumpkin Soup hit the spot. Made with chicken, coconut milk, ramen noodles and pan-roasted mushrooms, the soup had layers of flavour, from spicy to coconutty. From Mishmash’s salads, we tried the Raw Papaya And Mango Salad, a thoroughly refreshing affair, and the Tokyo Chaat — crackers topped with crunchy veggies and a wasabi and tamarind dressing. Another one for lovers of Asian food is the Coconut Chicken and Wombok salad, which has mint, coriander and Chinese cabbage.

For our appetiser course, we sampled the Palak Makai Seekh. The winning combination of spinach and corn was brought alive in this seekh, served with a tangy coriander chutney. Just like the rest of the menu, for mains too you can choose from cuisines from across the globe. We were served some Goan Balchao and Karachi-style Biryani. The Balchao was not very authentic in terms of spice levels, but paired well with the uttapams it was served with. From the mains, the one we liked most was the Rajma Paneer Raseela Biryani, brought to the table in a traditional dum pot. Spices, and textures on point in this one!
While it may not score high on novelty, Mishmash delivers on well done classics.

Rs. 1,400 for two. At HSR Layout
