The newly-opened Fabcafe at Fabindia Experience Centre has already become one of the choicest destinations for the city's health-conscious crowd, who rants at the lack of options when it comes to eating outside. As we checked into the 42-seater cafe to get a lowdown on their newly-launched summer menu, we were impressed by the tastefully done-up place, just apt for a conversation with friends or a quick grab after a frenzied shopping jaunt.

No sooner than we made ourselves comfortable at a corner table overlooking the busy road, we were served a chilled glass of Wild Berry concoction, whisked up with blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. Apart from the food value of the highly nutritious drink what bowled us over was the creamy consistency and the natural of the potion, so refreshingly different than the smoothies served in the other outlets. If you're not particularly fond of something sweet, you can go for their citrusy Glow Hydration drink comprising coconut water, aloe vera, orange, pineapple and chia seeds.

Keeping the humid weather in mind, the summer menu has dishes that are light on spice, and non-oily. We tried the crispy falafel chaat and it's a perfect starter on a grimy afternoon. The flat tikkas made with moong daal had the right balance of spices and well-tempered with tamarind, date and mint chutney. It was followed by Chicken Tikka salad and we must say, it was the most scrumptious dish we had in recent times. The pickled onions and Tahina dressing lent the salad a very zesty flavour and we relished every bit of it. For the main course, we stuck to water-chestnut flour flatbread with Lucknowi Cashew Mutton Korma. The meat cooked in a base of cashew with a hint of saffron was succulent and well-soaked in freshly ground spices. In fact, you can polish off the entire gravy without any guilt trip since it's light and has almost zilch oil.

The desserts, too, are light and toothsome and we settled for mixed seasonal fruits in coconut cream base that's close in taste to the ever popular Thai desert comprising red water chestnuts in coconut cream.
