Situated on the bustling Madhapur road, it’s not hard to spot the vibrant little outlet with a bright colourful board.

Adding to the number of churro-serving outlets in Hyderabad is the all-new Toro Churro, located in Kavuri Hills Phase 1. The New Zealand-based company opened its first branch in the city and we couldn’t wait to try it! So we made our way to the outlet on a Friday afternoon.

Situated on the bustling Madhapur road, it’s not hard to spot the vibrant little outlet with a bright colourful board. On entering, we spot café-inspired seating with wooden chairs and tables. The walls have framed pictures of the kinds of churros served, and caption boards about food. There’s also a huge illustration of butterfly wings, perfect for your Instagram feed. The outlet has two counters — Toro Churro and Gaazab. While the former serves churros, Gaazab offers shakes and Continental cuisine.

We begin with fresh lime juice to beat the heat, as we settle down, glancing through the menu. All the churros served are 100 per cent vegetarian. The menu offers quite a varied range covering original churros, savoury, signature, churro cup sundae, lángos (Hungarian fried flatbread) and fancy churros. The first one to arrive is I Heart Churros. Fried in the shape of a heart, churros are topped with strawberry sauce and sprinkles — this one is strictly for those who don’t mind a sugar rush.

The Churro Fondue could be a meal in itself — three cinnamon and sugar-coated churros and three plain churros served with brownie, lángos and piping hot chocolate sauce and cheese as dips. The crispy cinnamon coated churros go well with the chocolate sauce, while cheese dip is fairly sticky and a tad salty, but tastes good with buttery pieces of lángo. There are churro options covering fruit-based flavours including Very Berry Strawberry, Orange Blossom and Unicorn Lovers. If you’re in the mood to experiment, opt for Toro Loop or try savoury churros — jalapeno and chipotle.

Price for two: Rs.800.
