Ladies Night is passé. Stilletto Night is trending. The taller your stiletto is, the more the perks at the bar counter at the all-new high energy lounge and bar, Altitude Next. The revamped watering hole at Hyderabad Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre overlooking the Hussainsagar Lake has undergone a makeover –– from the food and beverages to the DJ and the décor.

Out in the open
For starters, there are more open spaces now to be able to appreciate the city’s skyline from the eighth floor of the hotel. That these spaces are open to the sky, with a potted plant or two in the vicinity and just a slight hint of the music from the DJ’s console makes it a good space to enjoy their signature cocktail, Altitude Old Fashioned, a classic made of Whisky and discs of burnt orange, and Sangrita, a tequila-based drink with fruit infusion, tabasco sauce and Italian lemon.

Award-winning barman Biswa presented one to us and that was an orange drink with a zing. “We have created two new private dining lounges for parties and ample space to shake a leg as the laser lights create a trance-like ambience,” informs bar manager Ankit Vasisht.

Food for thought
Naveen Handa, their new executive chef who will take charge on October 7, has already set the ball rolling with a new menu. “The desi peanuts and nachos will give way to Chowk Ki Tikki, a Delhi street style potato medallion made of green peas and crushed nuts and Crumb-fried Onion Rings that come with a blue cheese dip that is best paired with white wine,” says Sayak Roy, food & beverage manager.

The fancy dip came with a Cajun spice making it stand out and keeping it spicy, the way we love it. The menu includes a range of global starters and has been paired with innovative cocktails. Fancy a paan leaf in your drink? We got it,” he adds.

To go with the drinks is a new line up of international DJs starting with Zurich-based DJ Jimi Jules this Saturday followed by DJ Tarantino from Colorado the next. “Thursdays and Saturdays are going to be the big days,” says Ankit. Saturday is coming. I tell myself.

Cover charge: Rs.3,000.
