Pallimukku-based Mash Resto Cafe amused people with their ‘Foodies Creed’ as much as they did with their deviled beef strips. To the uninitiated, the former is a page-long gourmand’s oath attached to their menu which pledges to celebrate good food.
Despite their popularity, Mash eventually disappeared from the ‘dining destinations’ map, only to reincarnate a few weeks ago as an express outlet in Panampilly Nagar’s 4th Cross Road.
“Delivery apps are changing the way people consume food and so we’re moving into a smaller outlet (12-covers that plans to be expanded to 22) to make meals more affordable for customers,” says owner Rohit Zachariah.
The small space fitted with a single row of tables is filled with the inviting fragrance of continental ingredients as we cool down with a fizzy litchi-rose cooler with a soothing flowery flavour.

We’re keen to know about their all-day breakfast and order a ‘chicken and egg race’. The masala omelette stuffed with chicken cubes has the subtle notes of basil and oregano and is served with fries and toasted bread, butter and jam.
Next, we move on to a double-marinated steak. The platter has a good cut of meat that comes with buttered veggies, rice and a pepper mushroom sauce that hits the back of the palate.
“We have ‘Indianised’ the ingredients in our continental dishes. Also, we focus on fresh food and make our patties only after the order is placed,” informs the restauranteur, who traces 12 years of industry experience.
Beware of their half pounder double-patty burger, it’s simply too big to bite into despite its spicy goodness filled with eggs, chicken ham and sausage.
“We are setting up a mother kitchen where all the sauces will be prepared and soon a bigger outlet will also open in Edapally,” says the 37-year-old, as we end the meal with a drool-worthy sizzling chocolate mudpie.
