Subsidised government canteens are a favourite among youngsters as they serve quality food at not so steep rates. Now, Kochiites can enjoy the benefits of lunch cooked by jail inmates from the comfort of their office cubicles.
Freedom Food Factory, the food production unit at Kakkanad District Jail, has tied up with food delivery app Uber Eats to reach out to a wider customer base.
Their rather affordable pricing (think a combo of chicken biryani, five chappatis, chicken curry and a one-litre bottle of water for just `125) has already made them a popular spot for techies from Info Park located nearby.
Currently, orders through the app are accepted from 11 am to 4 pm. Besides combo meals listed above Freedom Food Factory’s online menu also has chappatis, chilli gobi, chilli chicken, chicken 65, ghee rice, chicken biriyani, and various curries.
Uber Eats will deliver the food within an eight-km radius of the jail.
