Food cooked in a home kitchen with plenty of care and purity may be an elixir for good health. For Shruti Maria Jose and Mercy Jose, a Pala-based mother-daughter duo, this was the inspiration for creating Farm to Table. The young brand specialises in making preservative-free, home-made butter, pickles, jams and syrups that are well packed and delivered to your doorstep. A social work graduate, Shruti has always wanted to change the way people eat. She paired it up with her mother’s cooking skills to launch a start-up that now caters to many metro cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kochi. “My sister and I grew up eating our mother’s recipes. To be able to provide that for people living away from their families would be a great service,” she says.

Syrupy goodness
Regardless of whether you love sweet treats or spicy fare, Farm To Table has something for everyone. Their ginger syrup can be a nutritious replacement to sugar syrups added to tea, ice cream or pancakes.
An assortment of spreads and butter variants including peanut, almond and cashew with chocolate is up for sale as a healthy breakfast option. The portion of almond butter is thick in texture and carries an intense taste. Seasonal fruit jams are also prepared based on demand, with pumpkins, apple and banana flavours delivered around the year. On the fiery side, the highlight is erachi podi or crushed beef jerky—made by grinding powdered meat with spices. This blast from the past is a great accompaniment to rice. Beef and tuna fish pickles are a must-try among the line-up.

Sugar fill
The brand is particular about the quality of every bottle that they sell. “We handpick the fish, meat and nuts used in every recipe. Fresh fruits are sourced locally from homes and farms,” she adds. For buyers who prefer jaggery or honey instead of sugar, customisation options are available. Her string of return customers from all around the country understand the health implications of avoiding preservatives. “The taste will never match the bottles you buy at a supermarket, but eating healthy is more important,” she concludes.
