We have all been awaiting the holiday season and the flood of delicacies it brings with it. Though the traditional roast beef alongside turkey, plum cakes and pudding would not always relate to the taste buds of Indians, the festivities are made no less spirited with creative recipes from home bakers in the city. From adaptations like 3D pull-apart cakes to spiced pumpkin muffins and international bread, get your hands on some of these listings that add merry to the Christmas.

All in the filling

Experimenting with fillings is Ponni Murugesan, who recreated her pies and tarts with minced fruits and nuts, soaking them in orange juice for a zestful crunchy appeal. Her Christmas specials are shaped homemade chocolates in white, dark, milk and mixed varieties and Linzer cookies with jam, Nutella or peanut butter filling in between them. Adapting international festivities into their kitchen is La Madeleine who makes the German favourite Stollen with marzipan filling and the Italian Panettone, both with candied fruits. Also from the couple that owns the patisserie, Viji and Krishnan Ananthan, is a fruitcake with dates, prunes, cranberries, candied lemon and other premium fruits instead of tutti frutti. Free of maida and refined sugar is Bunny’s Healthy Baking that offers banana pecan muffins with whole wheat flour and coconut sugar. Barani Rajagopalan has also created spiced pumpkin muffins with jaggery, pumpkin puree and seeds adding spices like cinnamon and nutmeg for a spicy flavour. Her signature dish is a ragi-based double chocolate brownie in couverture chocolate. Deliciously dimensional

Sivaranjani Ganapathy has been gearing up for the season with her royal green icing gingerbread cookie 3D Christmas tree with a fondant accented star on top. Amongst other creations from Amato Crafts and Bakes is a chilly-raisin chocolate fudge, a hot seller, with chilly flakes and a plum cake, made from a recipe that combines few traditional ones, having rum/brandy or lemon (non-alcoholic).
