Theatrical cocktails, a sizable list of global bar eats and more at Fire Station

Be dared into drinking cocktails that are served in an ice sphere, or with dry ice or while flaming vodka is being poured into the drink only at Fire Station.

While, fire stations usually extinguish flames, the newly opened bar and restaurant, Fire Station, is lighting things up. Apart from the sizeable list of starters, the restaurant offers an eclectic mix of flaming cocktails. Even the interiors are designed with red and yellow flame-themed wall decals and chairs to match. Red lighting, red water pipes and traffic mirrors used for decor also adds another dimension to the restaurant’s aesthetic. With such a fiery theme we were certain Fire Station would surprise us with its offerings.

We started our meal with The Bubble Bee and the Fogcutter — both cocktails. The lavender undertones in the first cocktail and the nutty flavour of the second drink had us asking for more.

From the food menu, we chose to sample the Molotov Vegetable Tempura and the Torching Chicken Tikka. Both these dishes are for those who prefer anything hot and spicy. But in case you prefer a milder flavour, you won’t be missing out because you can even choose to have a mild wasabi with your tempura dish. Fire Station offers three levels of spiciness to suit every palate.

Next we were served the Cheesy Magical Mushrooms and the Volcanic Jalapeno Poppers. The cheese-crumb stuffed mushrooms impressed us with the soft and crunchy textures. The jalapeno poppers lived up to its name and set our palate on fire but the spiciness was balanced with a  zingy lemon cilantro dip.

On the non-vegetarian front we ordered the Bacon Bombs, Explosive Mutton Pepper Fry and Amritsari Fish Fry. We recommend the fish fry because of the tenderness and the Indian flavours of the meat. Our pick, though, is the mutton with its explosive peppery notes.

At this point, we were offered our second round of drinks. Midnight In Fire Station is a drink served inside an ice sphere, while Burning Inferno had flaming vodka being poured into the drink that is made of peach and mango flavours. We felt like quite the daredevils as the flames enveloped our cocktail glass. We paired our drinks with the Dynamite Veg Dumplings and Pav Slider. The dumplings, are offered at three spice levels. We recommend the medium option, with the tandoori marination. As for the sliders, we enjoyed the classic flavours of corn cheese tikki, paneer bhurji and kanda bhajji.

Our last hit of spice was the Paneer Ghee Roast Sizzle and Prawn Ghee Roast Sizzle. Despite being extremely hot and spicy, both dishes were comforting because of the South Indian touch. All this fire from our meal was balanced by our last dish, the Sweet Grenade, a dessert. This is basically Gulab Jamun sprinkled with finely chopped green chillies. The combination worked because the spice was evened out by the warmth and sweetness of the jamuns.

Fire Station is a great addition to Electronic City and definitely worth a visit for its cocktail menu that offers drinks with flames, dry ice and spices
