Bengaluru’s weather was at its best on the Saturday afternoon we headed to the Shine Spa at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway. Grey skies, nippy air and a light drizzle — just right to try out the Monsoon Package that the spa is offering for the season. We were welcomed with a cup of detox water, and a quick foot rub later, we were ready to start the treatment.
The first part of the package was a hot stone massage. Flat, black basalt lava stones that are heated in warm water are used in the treatment. The masseuse used the stones to massage the whole body before placing it along our spine and the palm of our hands. The heat and the weight of the stones at the key points on our body were excellent at relieving stress and relaxing muscles. Hot stone massages are also said to be effective for pain relief and curing insomnia. While we can’t vouch for that, we certainly felt the week’s stress ebb away.
The next part of the massage was the body scrub. Since we have sensitive skin, we were recommended the Indian spiced ubtan body scrub. With herbs like fennel, lodha tree bark, amla, neem and manjistha, the scrub was exfoliating and rejuvenating. It aids in deep cleansing and increases blood circulation. The cherry on top of the cake was the jacuzzi at the spa that we soaked in after the scrub. If we were not relaxed enough already, the bubble bath did the trick and we were feeling more calm than we thought we could. Since the massage relaxes you and the scrub invigorates you, the special package is the perfect pick me up for the season.
