Japanese brands or J-beauty brands are soaring in popularity among Indian enthusiasts. Hence, skincare obsessors have been anticipating the launch of Tokyo-based beauty brand, Bioré that was recently made its way to India. Helmed by Kao Corporation, this label was established in 1980. One look at their India Instagram page will tell you, that it is pronounced ‘Bee-Oh-Ray’ and is now available on e-commerce site, Nykaa.
Bioré is known for their Makeup Remover Cleansing Oil, Cleansing Wash Foam and nose strips pore pack, but it is indeed the sunscreens that are the label’s hero products. They offer two chemical sunscreen options at the moment — Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence and Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel. Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence| SPF 50+ PA++++ is designed with acne-prone, oily or combination skin in mind.
We reached out to Takuya Wada from Kao Co (Health & Beauty Care Department Asia Business) to understand what might be making their sunscreens work in India. “The lightweight texture like water contributes to the popularity, given it works well in humid weather. In addition, with our unique technology called Micro Defense, it offers high UVA and UVB protection,” shares Takuya.
We also learn that it has several humectants or moisturising elements like Hyaluronic Acid and Royal Jelly Extract that act as moisturising ingredients. The brand claims that Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel | SPF 50+ PA++++ has a unique mix of ingredients that provides even coverage for skin, fine lines and uneven surfaces. It might come in handy for those aiming for a dewy glass skin look!
