Developing story: Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa responds to allegations surrounding the death of Cuban crocodile 

On March 30, a female Cuban crocodile was found dead at the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust on ECR. Rom Whitaker, one of the founders of the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust put up a post on social media stating that one of the four female Cuban crocodiles had died because of stress and vibrations caused by the noise coming from "a roaring party" that was being hosted by the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa, located about 50 feet away from the crocodile bank. 

Rom Whitaker's heartfelt post, as well as the photo of the dead crocodile, have been trending on social media for the last couple of days. Read the post here. 

When we reached out to the hotel officials for a response, Shibil Malik, the General Manager said, "We, at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa are committed to safeguarding our environment and have always adhered to the laws of the land. We have been proactively working with the Madras Crocodile Bank on the concerns raised by them, post our last meeting in the month of February. We assure the concerned authorities of our fullest support.”
