From bucket list destinations to newer experiences, the travel industry has noticed a paradigm shift over the years where more and more Indians are travelling abroad to experience luxury at its best. A study conducted by Gurgaon-based personalised travel planner, Tripoetic, revealed that demand to travel to offbeat destinations among Indians is rapidly increasing. The study by Gunjan Indrayan, Director & Co-founder of Tripoetic, was done on more than 1080 travellers.

Over 60% respondents prefered offbeat travel to places like Cuba, Montenegro and Peru, while 40 % travel enthusiasts are opting for experiential travel instead of luxurious destinations.

For most millennials, Peru is the offbeat destination choice due to its landscapes and natural wonders


Another interesting finding according to the study is that 54% families, especially CEOs and CXOs are splurging on experiential travelling. About 40% millennials want to explore offbeat destinations because they want to feel inspired and the place should be apt for their social media. Solo travellers who want to explore the world on their own account for 4%.
