The Mercedes-AMG G 63 takes rugged luxury to a whole new level
The G-Wagen has been around since 1979 and has proved to be a timeless piece of machinery that delivers in the most hostile environments. Over its 37 years of existence, it has embraced many technological advancements; however, its prime purpose and design remains largely unchanged. The latest iteration of the model to make its way to Indian soil is the Mercedes-AMG G 63 ‘Edition 463’.
Though the design of the vehicle remains unchanged with this version, it sports a stainless steel underride guard, AMG Sport strips on the flanks and protective inserts. The large 21 inch 5-spoke light alloys finished in matt black which bring about a distinct sporty appeal. The G 63 also boasts the finest materials in the cabin and all the comforts you would expect from a high-end luxury SUV. This includes the two-tone designo leather on the seats, dashboard and door trims, carbon fibre inserts and the high-end infotainment
This SUV comes with a hand-crafted 5.5-litre V8 AMG engine that develops 420 Kw of power and offers a maximum torque of 760 Nm. Despite its size, the machine can go from 0-100 kmph in 5.4 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 210 kmph. While it might have the heart of an AMG sports car, the ‘Edition 463’ is equally at home off the road. It has a combination of three differential locks, an off-road reduction gear and an electronic traction system that helps navigate through the roughest terrain with ease.
