The Tiago and Tigor JTP are an outcome of a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Motors and Jayem Automotives Pvt Ltd called JT Special Vehicles Pvt Ltd or JTSV.  The JV was put together in March 2017 with an ethos focusing on exciting, innovative and aspirational products that bring back the ‘Joy of Motoring’ to Indian customers.

Under the hood
Both the Tigor and Tiago come powered by a performance enhanced 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It has been tuned to deliver 114 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque between 2,000–4,000 rpm and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. With the weight difference between the two cars being a mere 35 kg, the performance figures are almost identical and the cars can do 0-100 kmph in about 10 seconds flat! The cars come fitted with multiple driving modes, however, if you really want to experience that adrenaline rush that these cars provide, you are better off driving in ‘Sport’ mode. To add that practical touch, the cars also come with a ‘City’ mode which ensures you get an efficient run-about.

Sporty appeal
The conglomerate has paid attention to the detailing to ensure that the cars carry that sporty appeal both on the exterior as well as the interior. To begin with, the JTP logo is visible on the front grille, sharing space with the Tata logo.  In addition to exterior placement, the JTP logo was seen on the floor mats and on the seats as well.

The cars come with a side skirting, lowered profile, dual-tone paint job, a bonnet air intake, broad air dams up front and neat looking telescopic front headlights to complete the look. The vehicles both ride on large 185/65 R15 rubber shod on strikingly good-looking cut alloys.

Stay connected
Keeping with the brand’s philosophy of offering the best in terms of connectivity, both cars come
fitted with the ConnectNext Infotainment system by Harman. Navigation, Bluetooth, media controls, music and much more were easily accessible without being distracting. An eight-speaker system ensured that the sound quality was easy on the ears, whenever you weren’t too busy listening to the power-tuned engine.

The verdict
Tuned for performance and an absolute blast to drive, the performance edition of both vehicles caters to the enthusiast who loves to drive. We sure are glad that the carmaker has taken the lead on offering such products and the icing on the cake is the pricing. The Tiago JTP will be available for `6.39 lakh and the Tigor JTP is listed for a starting price of `7.49 lakh.
