Author and television producer Ram Kamal Mukherjee has won the prestigious Society Achievers Award for his authorized biography Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl in Mumbai
The honour was conferred on Ram Kamal for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema by Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and Suchitra Krishnamurthy at a star-studded event at Taj Santacruz. ‘I am extremely happy to present this prestigious award to Ram Kamal who has been a prolific writer since last two decades of film journalism,’ said Sonu Sood.
Ram Kamal received the award in the presence of Bollywood bigwigs like Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty, Rekha, Zeenat Aman, Jeetendra, Ramesh Sippy, Tusshar Kapoor, Anu Malik, Shaan, Aman Ali Bangash, Ayan Ali Bangash, Abu Jani, Sandeep Khosla, Divya Kumar and Raveena Tandon.
Beyond the Dream Girl was published by HarperCollins India in October 2017 amidst huge fanfare. The book was launched by Deepika Padukone in Mumbai, Rituparna Sengupta in Kolkata and Celina Jaitly in Dubai. Shantanu Ray Chaudhuri, the executive editor, HarperCollins Publishers India, said, “It’s a matter of great joy that Ram Kamal has won the award for Hema Malini’s biography. I have seen the passion with which he approached the subject and we are extremely proud to have published this book.”
Ram Kamal completed 20 years in the field of journalism this year and he feels this is the most precious moment of his life. “I dedicate my award to my parents, wife, and Hemaji, without their support and good wishes this wouldn't have been possible,” said Ram Kamal. Bollywood’s eternal Dream Girl Hema Malini congratulated Ram Kamal on this achievement, saying, “He worked sincerely on this book for almost two years. I guess when someone works with honesty, he is blessed by God.”
