Harshita Dahiya, a Haryanvi folk singer and dancer was shot dead on Tuesday evening while she was on her way home after a programme at Chamrara village in Israna block of the district.
The assailants came in a car, overtook her and shot her in the forehead and neck, killing her on the spot. Sources say that Harshita had previously received life threats and she had disclosed the same on social media and on YouTube through a live video. Panipat SP Rahul Sharma said they suspected the role of a gangster named Dinesh, who is facing many criminal cases and is currently lodged in Tihar jail of Delhi
