Kipling Cafe in Akkarai will turn up the amp this Sunday with a power-packed performance by Mumbai-based EDM duo, Nina & Malika. Better known by their stage name, The Elektrovertz, the two ladies will be performing in Chennai for the first time as part of Kipling’s celebrations of the launch of their sundowner sessions. Right on top of their playlist is the peppy number titled Never Let You Go, featuring DJ Zaeden as the collaborating artist. Both children to Indian fathers and British and Australian mothers, respectively, Nina (25) and Malika (33) have also performed in Sunburn events, having come a long way since performing for the first time in Mumbai at a club called Prive.

Describing how much their music has evolved since 2009, they say, “We started off by playing hard dry techno, which was a big hit in clubs. Then we moved on to Big Room EDM and got a great response when we started playing that too. Both our styles are different and when combined into a common project, the results turn out to be edgy.” They are also fans of artistes like Ed Sheeran and Coldplay, and have performed in festivals like VH1 Supersonic and Global Citizen. With plans to introduce trap music into their sounds, the duo are all set to continue their electric growth.
