Ananth Menon and Michael Dias share the stage in a tribute gig

Two of Bengaluru’s well-known musicians share at the stage, playing a tribute to the greatest divas of music. Not a gig you want to miss, right? Blues guitarist and singer Ananth Menon has played for Galeej Gurus, By2blues, and Parachute XV1, while Michael Dias is the lead vocalist of the indie band Mad Orange Fireworks who have carved their own niche.
“Instead of just paying tribute to a band or any one singer, we decided to pick a theme for this gig,” says Michael, adding, “I’ve always been a fan of singers such as Madonna and Norah Jones, so performing their music live will be a lot of fun.” Michael is looking forward to playing In the Morning, the 2004 chart-topper by Norah Jones.
While the two have played for each others’ bands before, this is the first time Ananth and Michael will share the stage as a duo. “I have huge respect for Ananth and look up to him so playing with him is a great opportunity,” Michael tells us.
Ananth thinks the theme is wonderful. “It’s just two guys jamming on their acoustic guitars singing songs of these powerful vocalists. I don’t think anything like this has been done before.” On the set list are classics such as Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin, Umbrella by Rihanna, Rehab  by Amy Winehouse and Killing Me Softly by Fugees. But when asked whom he likes the best amongst these women, “I’m too old to pick a favourite,” Ananth replies cheekily.

Entry free. Tonight, 8 pm. At Monkey Bar, Indira Nagar. Details: 44114455
