The mention of the Indi-pop band, Euphoria, could trigger a wave of nostalgia for any 90’s kids. This weekend get ready to welcome the makers of hits like Maaeri and Dhoom Pichak Dhoom  for Hyderabad Arts Festival (HAF) on May 20. We catch up with the frontman of the band, Palash Sen, on what to expect at their upcoming performance in the city.

How does it feel to be back in Hyderabad?
It is always a pleasure to play in Hyderabad. Over the years, as Euphoria travelled to several parts of the country, we have received, a lot of love. Hyderabad is special to us for a very simple reason. This is the IT hub of the country comprising of young people, and we have many fans in the group. So playing for them is always great.

This is the first time that you are playing for HAF. What kind of response are you expecting at the festival?
We usually do not play at a lot of public venues in Hyderabad. Most of the time we play are for corporate gigs. Therefore playing a public gig in in the city is a matter of great joy for us, especially for the Hyderabad Arts Festival. I think we will be playing to a crowd that is really interested in arts. People in this city have always taken music seriously and I am really looking forward to it.

What can the Hyderabadis expect at the show?
I  want  people to jump! People should come and have a great time. For the two hours that we are going to be playing, we want people to forget all their problems,  listen to pure music and have a great time.

What does the playlist look like?
We will play most of our hits – Maeri, Dhoom Pichak Dhoom, Mehfooz,  Ab Na Jaa  and more. Also, there are some covers that we would love to play. Let’s keep that element a surprise.

There’s also a new album in the pipeline. Will the audience get a sneak peek  of what is to come?
This is actually going to be our last gig before our new album comes out. We hope to play two brand new songs from our upcoming album. It would be interesting to watch how the audience receives it.
